There is a heartbreaking scene in the new film Joy on Netflix which tells the incredible story of the three British people who created IVF. In fact there are many. But there is one which broke me. And I had to share my take on it.
I cannot believe, all these years on from the seventies when this team were working in a cold lab in Oldham, science still wouldn’t be ready and able to properly help a woman like Jean Purdy, surviving life with endometriosis and working as the world’s first embryologist.
Scientists and doctors may have figured out how to help SOME of those unable to conceive do so, but as to what causes endometriosis? And adenomyosis? And how to cure it? And properly treat it? No. Just no.
No proper answers.
We are in pain and there are millions of us. We need help not guesswork.
I am backing the Endo1000 project in the hope of something but this post isn’t about that per se (although please check it out).
How is science still not ready?
