I had to change jobs when we first started trying 7 years ago. My employee refused to give me any time off for appointments without any ‘greater clarity on my medical condition’…… given that he called our maternity policy the ‘liability calculator’ is it any wonder I couldn’t tell him!!!
Still so grateful for this space, as brutally honest as it is, it is what the world needs xx
Thank you so much for this Emma. Secondary infertility over here - two miscarriages in a row, and it’s a lonely old road. Reading your posts and hearing someone voice so eloquently what I’ve been feeling for months (really thought it was just me with a bump/how many kids do they have radar!) is like a big virtual hug. None of us would’ve chosen to join this club but there are some amazing women in it. Sending strength to you all xx
Emma, I listened to you talking to Fearne Cotton on Happy Place today and immediately read your article. I, too, have a four year old and have been trying for over two years now for our second. I can't express how grateful I am to hear about someone going through something similar. We have only recently decided to have fertility treatment (starting this month). We will only give it 6 months as our consultant advises that we can no longer try after 44 (??). I am so glad to be able to subscribe to Trying to help us navigate this journey and no longer feel alone in the range of emotions which have weighed on us over the past two years. It also helps me in preparing for the emotional roller coaster coming our way. X Cath
